ZenSearch vs. LinkedIn— Years of Experience

Searching for jobs with specific years of experience has never been easy on LinkedIn. Recently, they've made some changes...unfortunately not for the better. Let's take a closer look.

Setting a permanent Years of Experience preference was never possible on LinkedIn, but you could at least filter the results. No more! Now, all job levels are jumbled together, forcing you to read through each post to find the ones you're looking for.

LinkedIn identifies job levels with vague labels, like "Mid-Senior Level," "Associate," or "Director" instead of showing actual years of experience. What exactly is "Mid-Senior"— 5 years, 7, 10? Who knows?

On some jobs, the label conflicts with the content of the job posting, which is confusing. Many jobs don't even show a label, making you read the job post, often only to disqualify it. Frustrating!

All this makes sense because LinkedIn earns money when someone clicks on a job (did you know that?). That's right, they are financially motivated to HIDE important details you'd use to exclude jobs and force you to examine each job individually.

    Here's how ZenSearch compares

    • You choose the Years of Experience range that's best for you— large, small, a single year, or everything.
    • You choose both the start and end of your range— you're not stuck with 5+ years when what you want is 5-8 years.
    • We accurately display the minimum years required for almost all US jobs— no interpretation needed.
    • None of our jobs are promoted or paid— we don't make money from your clicks.

With ZenSearch, you're in complete control.

During my job search, I knew companies looking for candidates with 4+ years of experience were not good matches for me, so I used a range of 5-10+ years.

A job seeker I spoke with recently has close to 3 years of experience. Since they're hoping to move to the next level, they chose a range of 1-4 years.

Since ZenSearch ONLY shows jobs that match your preferences, EVERY JOB is what you're looking for, making them all great ones to apply to! Be as selective or flexible as you choose, it's your job seeking experience.
