Can you find joy in a tomato?
I posted recently about the increase I'm seeing in desperation and despair. I get it. You're doing all the things— customizing resumes, reaching out to hiring managers, using ZenSearch, and you still haven't landed.
It can be hard to find anything to be positive about.
Maybe you need to think smaller. Really small. Tiny, like the first ripe cherry tomato.
I start my tomatoes from seed and eagerly watch as they emerge into fragile seedlings. I gently repot and nurture them until it's time for them to go outside. I prep the soil, I fertilize, I care. And they flourish, fruit, and ripen.
With each step, I appreciate. At each stage, I celebrate. I find joy. Yes, in a tomato.
Maybe gardening isn't your thing.
There are small things to feel good about everywhere.
You might be into crafting or kayaking or playing the guitar. Perhaps it's simply walking your dog, playing with your kids, or cooking a delicious meal.
Whatever your thing is, do it mindfully, savor the time you're devoting, be present in each step, and find the joy.
