Let go of things outside of your control.

    Let that sh*t go!

One of the tenets of yoga is Aparigraha, the concept of non-attachment, especially to things outside our control.

If you're like me and many people currently , you were laid off or riffed from your job due to business decisions that had nothing to do with your performance...yet you blame yourself and wonder if you could have worked harder.

You've probably been job searching for a while, experiencing the craziness of a job market where hundreds of people are vying for a single opening...yet you blame yourself and wonder if you included the right keywords in your resume or if your cover letter was effusive enough.

Maybe you've been lucky enough to get some interviews, and even made it to the final round, only to learn they went with another candidate. After all, they can only hire one person...yet you blame yourself and focus on questions you could have answered better, that awkward pause, or something you did or didn't say.

It's time to let it go.

Believe me, I know how hard that is.

I haven't been looking for over a year, yet I can recall in vivid detail certain moments when I knew I'd said something that lost me the interview. Not anything "wrong," just not what they were looking for.

We all cling to the past. Our woulda, coulda, shoulda's that can't be changed. It's time to move on from things that no longer exist or don't serve you.

We also fantasize about the future with its ideal outcome and feel like we're "not enough" when it doesn't work out perfectly. But maybe we should be open to a different path.

Let go of your self-limiting beliefs, past mistakes, and anticipation of future outcomes.

Lean into Aparigraha to appreciate the present and focus on the journey. Don't miss opportunities or paths that might be perfect because you're grasping elsewhere.
