Is there a bad time to apply for jobs?
There is, and the answer may surprise you!
If you're like most people, you start the week brimming with ambition. You've had the weekend to chill out and disengage from your job search, spend time with family, devote energy to a hobby, or just relax.
Monday morning arrives. You're feeling fresh, recharged. It's time to get to it!
You open your computer, take a deep breath, and dive in.

That is the WORST time of the week to apply for jobs!
On most days, ZenSearch gets an average of 3,000 new job posts (a metric backed by data collected over the past several months). That sounds great, right? But that number plummets to only a couple hundred on Sunday and MONDAY.
It makes sense if you think about it. Most companies are closed on weekends and don't post new opportunities. So, if no jobs are added on Saturday and Sunday, there isn't anything new for you Monday morning, especially if you use the 24 or 48 hour filter.
Now I want to share a secret.
Saturday mornings may be the BEST time to apply.
There are those ~3,000 new jobs companies posted on Friday, many of them late in the day. And other job seekers (aka your competition) are busy enjoying their weekends. It's the perfect opportunity to get your application in at the top of the stack, so it's waiting to greet the hiring team at the start of their week.
Can't devote the time to applying on Saturday? I get it. We all have stuff going on. Quickly jump into ZenSearch and bookmark the jobs you're interested in to easily circle back to later.
If you do apply on Saturdays, please take care of yourself. It's not sustainable to work every day. Especially during stressful times, people need to rest and recoup—and there's not a lot that's more stressful than a protracted job search in this market. Take that Monday morning to linger over your coffee, connect with a friend, or get energized for the week.
Check us out at ZenSearch.jobs (especially on Saturdays) and share our platform with anyone looking for something new. Together, we can make job searching a little more zen.
