Shelter House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the issues of homelessness and domestic violence in Fairfax County, Virginia. Established in 1981, Shelter House has evolved to effectively respond to community needs by providing a range of supportive services, including emergency shelter, case management, and advocacy for individuals and families in crisis. In the past year, the organization positively impacted nearly 2,000 lives, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations, including children. Shelter House operates with a strong commitment to its core values of Inclusivity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment (iC.A.R.E.), which guide its practices and foster a nurturing environment for both clients and staff. With a team of over 100 dedicated employees, Shelter House works closely with government and community partners to create pathways towards stability and independence for those it serves.
