Overview
TRAILS (Transforming Research into Action to Improve the Lives of Students) is an independent organization dedicated to enhancing youth mental health care delivery within schools. Founded at the University of Michigan Medical School, TRAILS equips school staff, including teachers and counselors, with evidence-based training and resources to implement culturally responsible programming. Since its inception, TRAILS has trained over 14,000 school professionals across the United States and globally, addressing the significant need for mental health support in educational settings. The organization employs a three-tiered model, which includes social and emotional learning training, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness resources, and suicide prevention trainings, all designed to create a comprehensive support system for students. A core commitment to equity drives TRAILS’ initiatives, specifically targeting Title I designated schools and students facing barriers to mental health care access. Candidates who value diversity, equity, and inclusion are encouraged to join this mission-focused team.
